Google introduces standalone Docs & Sheets apps for Android & iOS.

Yesterday [Wednesday, 30th April] Google on, revealed two new document editing app for Android and iOS. So now, you can create documents, spreadsheets [and presentation slides coming soon!] using your mobile phones and tablets. The new apps are named Docs & Sheets, will let you view or create new documents and spreadsheets. Slides app is on its way to arrive - which will let you create presentations on the go!
The docs and sheets apps were the part of drive app. Now Google just have separated those features in the separate asps for a particular use. The only advantage of having standalone apps is that they comes with offline support – So one can work with Google Docs and Sheets, without having internet connection. If you don’t want these apps, you can still able to edit your documents in drive apps, but you will need an internet connection for that. All features of your drive app are same, you can manage, create or edit all your documents and spreadsheets in drive app as well. From today, when you will be using the drive app to edit or create documents and spreadsheets, you will be prompted to download to download the apps for few days in the future.
Android users can download Docs & Sheets sheets from Play store & iOS users, please head to the Apple iTunes to download the Docs & Sheets for your iOS devices.

Well, there already are many apps available in the market which lets you edit, create and save your docs offline that too with many features and editing options. So, as of now Google’s new apps does not make a big difference. These apps are good, but not the best option. The overall UI is ‘OKAY’. Hopefully Google will keep improving them.

As announced in early may 2014, Google slides app is now available for android devices. Download it from play store and enjoy making presentations on the go! In April, Google launched Docs and Sheets for android and and Slides was introduced. They've launched the app yesterday [Wednesday, 25th June,2014] for android but no information is released yet for iOS devices. Slides also supports Microsoft PowerPoint files. Slides app features plenty of themes, fonts and animations to customize your presentation. The app supports offline mode so now uses can edit the files without and internet connection and are able to share presentations and work together with others in the same presentation when connected to internet. Offline mode will never let you to loose the data as everything gets saved as you type it.
